Tower Tricksters
A downloadable game
Tower Tricksters is a 2-4 player local multiplayer PVP couch-party game, where each player takes turns adding a building block onto a balancing tower, trying not to be the one whose block causes the tower to crash down. Think of a game of Jenga, but in reverse, where you are building onto an unstable tower, instead of taking blocks away from an unstable tower.
Since the gist of the game is to not be the one to make the tower fall, it can be surmised that it is your goal as a player, to put down the block that will make it as tricky as possible for the next player, to not topple the construction. The player makes this choice out of a selection of two blocks, presented to them in front of the tower. Every time a block is picked up and put down, a new random block appears in its stead, meaning that there will always be a selection of three blocks when the next player’s turn starts.
Tower Tricksters leans heavily into building the atmosphere and identity of a friendly competition, promoting crosstalk between players, and making the player feel great for being the one to mess up their friends. This is further supported by the ability to earn powerups, that players can use on their peers, or themself. These can both positively and negatively influence your target, and your possession will be known to every player. The powerup owner can activate them before a player's turn, which leads to fun interactions of players pleading for mercy or teaming up with each other, leaning into the competitive atmosphere.
